Developed by David J. Edgren, Ph.D and Andy Edgren, the CASA EPE (English Proficiency Exam) is unlike any other standardized test of English for non-native speakers.
The focus of the exam, which lasts only 18 minutes, is to gauge a student’s potential to succeed in an actual American classroom. Taking excerpts from actual lectures of American high schools and universities, the exam mirrors what students can expect to see in an actual American classroom, and is focused more on listening than traditional exams.
Testing will take place in various cities in China in October and November 2012, and at this time there is no cost to take the exam. Additional testing dates, both in China and in the United States, are coming soon, or individual tests can be requested in advance. All tests must be proctored by a CASA-approved instructor.
