Dr. David Edgren (“Uncle” Dave) holds the BA from the U. of Illinois in The Teaching of Speech, and his Master’s and Ph.D. from Penn State in Educational Administration. Dave has served as a teacher, dorm counselor, middle and high school principal, assistant superintendent, superintendent, and headmaster at eight different public, military, and private schools over a period of 54 years. He and his wife Kathy also served as Foreign Experts at Shanxi University in China for four years.
Since 1995, he has recruited over 350 students from Asian countries to high schools in the USA and has crossed the Pacific Ocean over 90 times. Dave retired from the US Army Reserves in 1994 as a Lieutenant Colonel after three years of active duty and 25 as a reservist. He and his wife Kathy live in Columbia, SC. They have three grown children (Andy, Jon, and Emily) and ten grandchildren.
Dr. Edgren’s son, Andy Edgren (安迪), who is proficient in Mandarin and has a large online presence on Chinese social media, works closely with his father and now runs the day-to-day operations for CASA.
